An Adhesive Switch That Pays Off Three Ways
Lower Cost per Part. Predictable Supply Chains. Ready for the Circular Economy and Regulation.
Polychloroprene-free (CR-free) SIMALFA® adhesives based on PU and polyacrylate dispersions bond foam and are formulated to be chlorine- and halogen-free. You can measure the difference right on your production floor: up to 50% lower adhesive application rates, reduced material usage and inventory, no dependence on the CR market, plus documentation of chlorine and halogen freedom for regulatory requirements and certifications.
Lower Cost per Part
Think Cost per Mattress, Not Price per Kilo.
You can see it in every piece of the puzzle: the same bond performance with up to 50% less adhesive. With the same amount of adhesive, you can bond up to twice as many mattresses, free up storage space, and extend delivery intervals. Single-sided application and short drying times speed up downstream processing on your line. And your cost calculation shows a lower cost per part, whether it’s a mattress, an upholstery component, or a seat.
What does this mean for you? We’ll run the numbers with your data, quick and easy to follow.
Predictable Supply Chains
Plan Your Production with Confidence.
You’ll see it in your planning: chloroprene-free SIMALFA® adhesives are based on readily available raw materials. Your purchasing team orders with reliable delivery dates, your production runs on schedule, and the lower application rate makes every delivery go further. That way, you keep the delivery dates you’ve promised your customers.
Ready for the Circular Economy and Regulation
Complex EU Requirements? We’re Ready. With SIMALFA®, So Are You.
It can feel like a dense, impenetrable forest: the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) introduces new requirements for furniture from 2028 and for mattresses from 2029, including the Digital Product Passport (DPP). The EU has yet to define the detailed requirements.
With CR-free SIMALFA® adhesives, you’re fully prepared. In recycling: compatible with the chemical recycling of PU foam. In the product passport: adhesive data we prepare for you. In audits and RFPs: documentation right at your fingertips. And with every new requirement: our regulatory experts track developments and stay one step ahead.
What does this mean for you? Sustainability that makes business sense.

FAQ: Chloroprene-Free Adhesives
CR stands for chloroprene rubber, also known as polychloroprene or neoprene. “Chloroprene-free” and “CR-free” mean the same thing: the adhesive contains no CR as a binder. The term “chlorine-free” is used inconsistently in the market; some suppliers only mean that no chlorinated solvents are used. Chloroprene-free SIMALFA® adhesives are formulated to be chlorine- and halogen-free. ALFA Klebstoffe has worked solvent-free since its founding in 1972.
In 2019. SIMALFA® was the first manufacturer to bring chloroprene-free adhesives for foam bonding to market.
Yes. They deliver the same bond performance, in some cases even better, with up to 50% less adhesive. They also offer a soft bond line, high heat resistance, and non-yellowing bonds that perform especially well under thin, light-colored fabrics.
Chloroprene-free SIMALFA® adhesives are certified to ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX®. This supports you in certifying your end products, for example to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®. In addition, SIMALFA® meets applicable industry standards as well as customer-specific material requirements such as IKEA IOS-MAT.
Mattresses, upholstered and office furniture, automotive, and foam converting. The portfolio includes one-component (1K) and two-component (2K) systems for roller and spray application.
That depends on your foam type, your application method, and your production line. With an individual cost check, we calculate your cost per part using your own numbers.
The EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) introduces new requirements for furniture from 2028 and for mattresses from 2029, including the Digital Product Passport (DPP). These are expected to include adhesive data as well. With CR-free SIMALFA® adhesives, you achieve a lower product carbon footprint (PCF) and can meet your ESG targets more easily.
