From Visionaries to Pioneers: Our Journey Towards Sustainability
Driven by entrepreneurial spirit, Emil Simmler founded ALFA Klebstoffe AG in 1972, focusing on the development and distribution of water-based adhesives for the packaging industry. Even back then, these adhesives were solvent-free, a commitment that has profoundly shaped the company’s history.
In the late 1980s, Emil Simmler had another vision: to create an eco-friendly, water-based adhesive for foam bonding. In the 1990s, ALFA Klebstoffe AG, patented what is now the globally renowned SIMALFA®. Despite initial skepticism, SIMALFA® products are more sought after today than ever before. This invention marked a revolutionary step towards greater sustainability in the adhesive industry.
ALFA Klebstoffe AG is now led by the third generation. At the turn of 2025 to 2026, Maya Bänninger and Thomas Simmler handed the family business from the second to the third generation, to Christian Bänninger and Andri Simmler. Both have been with the company for many years and are driving the continued development of the business with a clear focus on customers, quality, and sustainable innovation. Together with more than 70 employees worldwide, they are continuously expanding the modern, sustainable adhesive portfolio while remaining true to the mission of combining sustainability and innovation.
