We live transparency and responsibility for our CO2 footprint
We are committed to transparency and accountability in our environmental impact. As part of our sustainability initiatives, we are dedicated to measuring and reporting our scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by Q2 2025.
We are going to calculate our Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) using a CO2 calculator from esg2go and an LCA calculator in accordance with ISO 14067 for our products. This allows us to identify opportunities for improvement and set more ambitious reduction targets.
ESG reporting with esg2go
esg2go is a sustainability rating and reporting system tailored for small and medium-sized enterprises. It provides a straightforward way to measure, benchmark, and report on ESG performance across environmental, social, and governance dimensions, integrating standards like the GRI and DNK and includes a CO2 calculator.
esg2go ensures the highest level of transparency and credibility by employing only independent professionals and having its system verified by independent accredited auditors, thereby effectively preventing greenwashing through the provision of precise, verifiable data.
Environmental Goals
Sustainable Energy
We prioritize sustainable energy practices to minimize our environmental impact. Our energy sources include electricity from the Swiss grid mix, an onsite photovoltaic system, and a district heating system powered by wood chip heating.
- In 2023, we achieved 100% self-sufficiency with CO2-neutral electricity generated by our photovoltaic system.
- In 2022, we installed electric vehicle charging ports for our employees and visitors, supporting the reduction of fossil fuel dependence.
- 26% of our company vehicles are electric, further contributing to our sustainability goals.
- We have transitioned to LED lighting throughout our facilities, with 70% of our lighting now being energy-efficient LEDs.
And the best of all: By producing water-based adhesives, instead of solvent-based, we have avoided the emission of thousands of tons of VOCs each year.
Efficient Waste Management
Since it is inevitable to generate waste, our focus is on implementing responsible waste management practices. We carefully track the volume of waste produced, disposal methods and the associated costs to identify areas for optimization.
- We systematically collect and sort our waste for proper disposal or recycling,
considering their hazard status. - In 2023, waste designated for disposal was reduced by 24% compared to 2022.
- We promote paperless work in our office and provide appropriate bins in key locations to encourage recycling.
Our innovative adhesives require an application amount of only 40 g/m2 compared to the standard, 80 g/m2, significantly reducing resource usage.
Responsible Use of Water
Responsible use of water as a resource and as a main raw material in our formulations is a core element of our resource management policy in our company.
We rigorously treat and monitor our wastewater, with thorough evaluations of its discharge to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Regular assessments and analytical measurements are also performed and confirmed by external auditors and regulatory authorities.
In 2023, generated wastewater was decreased by 7% compared to 2022.

Each year we conduct annual employee appraisals for all our employees to mutually discuss about their satisfaction and upon their wish for further education/training possibilities. We provide apprenticeship opportunities and promote further educations.
Since 2022, we organize each year leadership training sessions with professional trainers for ALFA Klebstoffe leaders to enhance social and professional engagement within our company.

Our regulatory compliance team is committed to continuously monitoring and assessing physicochemical, toxicological and ecotoxicological properties of each chemical used in our product formulations to minimize any negative impact on people and the environment.
We responsibly document and provide each environmental, health and safety data to our customers, in accordance with the EU REACH Regulation and UN GHS.

Comprehensive Cybersecurity Approach to Data Protection
The security of our data, as well as the data of our customers, suppliers, and partners, is of the utmost priority in our company. We pursue a holistic approach to cybersecurity by continuously reviewing and improving our IT applications from a security perspective. Our Security Operation Center operates around the clock, 365 days a year, to detect and respond to potential threats immediately.
Sustainability is a central part of our corporate strategy. In our data centers, we have adjusted the temperature to reduce power consumption and thus reduce our ecological footprint. Additionally, we use renewable energy sources to make the operation of our IT infrastructure more environmentally friendly.
